Happy New Year to you all.

I think last term Josh got everybody at Aardvark to adopt a country to pray for, at least I know he was going to! If he did then I must have been away that particular week as I don’t remember it happening.

Anyway, had I been there, the country I would have chosen would have been Kenya as I’ve been fortunate enough to visit it a couple of times with Christian Aid. As you will no doubt have heard in the news recently there has been a lot of violence following their recent elections over the Christmas period. Some of the stories that are being reported are truly shocking, and it is hard to imagine that a number of the places that have appeared in the news are places I visited only a couple of months ago, and were then peaceful, friendly places.

So if you are taking part in BCF prayer room, or if you have a spare moment at home please do remember this beautiful country in your prayers. Below are some prayer points (from the Tearfund website) to help inspire and give substance to our prayers:

Your prayers for Kenya are needed. Please pray: -

  • That the ethnic violence and killing between the Luo and the Kikuyu will stop.
  • That diplomatic pressure helps secure a peaceful end to the political impasse.
  • That Tearfund staff and partners would be kept safe. (edit: As well as members of other NGO’s, and, well everybody really!)
  • And that the right leader for Kenya would have his position confirmed and that the country would be able to accept the result.

There’s lots more info on the Tearfund and BBC site, should you want to read more about what’s going on.
